    Fitting Instructions

    Step 1

    Bracket Positioning

    Inside Recess

To fit blinds inside the recess you have two options:

    1. Top fix the brackets to the lintel.
    2. Face fix bracket to the window frame .
    Outside Recess

Ensure measurement C (diagram above) is equal on both sides for even coverage.

    Step 2

    Bracket Fixing

The brackets can be installed using face fix, side fix, or top fix methods.

For fitting inside the recess use side or top fixing.

For fitting outside the recess use face fixing.

Measure and mark the distance between the wall and the back of the bracket, allowing for obstructions like handles that protrude into the recess area

Position the brackets 6mm wider than the blind at each end. Hold each bracket in place and mark the hole positions on the wall with a pencil. Secure each bracket with 4mm diameter screws, ensuring the fixings are appropriate for the mounting surface.

    Step 3

    Central Support Bracket

For wider blinds a central support bracket is necessary. Before installation, align the top of the central bracket with the top of the mounting bracket. Install the bracket with the larger flap ('gate') facing upward and evenly spaced across the width of the headrail. Ensure that the central bracket is positioned away from any central cords or tapes that run down the slats.

    Step 4

    Inserting the Headrail

Open the gate of the box brackets. Slide the headrail into place. Snap the brackets shut.

    Step 5 - Optional

    Hold down Clips

This step is optional. Secure the hold down clip to the window frame or wall/window recess using two small screws. Insert the pin ends of the bracket into the holes at the bottom rail end.

    Step 6 - Optional

    Attaching the Valance

This step is optional. There are three ways to attach your valance to the blind:

    1. Screw the valance clips to the back of the valance, ensuring they are level with the top.
    2. Use the Velcro tabs to attach the valance to the headrail—this method simplifies the installation of the pelmet onto the headrail.
    3. With the valance attached, hook the valance clip onto the top of the headrail

    Step 7 - Optional

    Valance Returns

This step is optional depending on your exact order. If your blind comes with valance returns, attach one end of the valance return clip to the valance using the provided screws. Align the edge of the valance return with the valance, then screw the other end of the clip onto the valance return.

    Step 8

    Safety Cleat

The safety cleat must be installed as close to the headrail of the blind and not less than 1500mm from the floor.

Position the safety cleat on the wall where desired, marking the hole locations with a pencil. Drill the necessary holes.

In the pre-drilled holes, screw the safety cleat onto the wall.

    Step 9

    Wrap the Cords

Wrap the cords around the cord cleats in a figure of eight pattern. Once the cords are fully gathered, ensure they are securely fastened to prevent any excess from being released when the cord is pulled.

    Step 10

    Operation

To tilt the blind, gently pull the tilt cord tassel to adjust the slats to your desired open or closed position. For longer-lasting blinds, always tilt the slats to a horizontal position before lifting or lowering them.

To release the cord lock and lower the blind, move the lift cord towards the center and pull down gently. To raise it, pull the lift cord downward until the blind reaches your preferred height.

To lock the blind in place, pull the lift cord towards the outer edge and release. The cord will lock automatically.

    FAQs about fitting Wooden blinds

Are wooden blinds easy to install?

The main steps for installing wooden blinds involve securing the brackets to the wall or recess using screws and a drill, mounting the blinds onto the brackets, and attaching the child safety clip to the wall. Follow the step-by-step instructions in this guide to make the process simple and easy

Can you adjust or cut wooden blinds?

Yes, wooden blinds can be cut to size. Although it is possible, it requires some skill and care for a clean, precise finish. Reducing the width of ready- made wooden blinds involves trimming the headrail, slats, and bottom rail using a hacksaw. Opting for made-to-measure wooden blinds removes the need for any cutting or adjustments.

How to take wooden blinds down?

Removing wooden blinds from the brackets is a simple process. Start by fully opening the slats by tilting the blinds. Locate the small tabs on each bracket and gently press or lift them upward using a flathead screwdriver or your fingers while lifting the front of the blinds upwards. Once the tabs are released from the brackets, carefully lower the blinds, ensuring they don’t swing.
