Product Guidance
Do thermal blinds keep cold out?
Yes, thermal blinds are designed with specialised materials to block cold air from seeping through your windows. They form a powerful insulating layer between the inside and outside, ensuring your home stays comfortable throughout the year. Research from the BBSA confirms that high-quality thermal blinds can cut heat loss through windows by up to 33%.
Are blackout blinds thermal?
Technically, no. While blackout blinds do offer some insulation, they are not the same as thermal blinds. Blackout blinds are primarily designed to darken a room by blocking out external light, using thicker and more opaque materials. This thickness can provide some degree of insulation, but it’s not their main function. For optimal energy efficiency and comfort, look for blinds specifically labeled as ‘thermal’.
What are the most thermal efficient blinds?
Honeycomb thermal blinds are renowned for their exceptional performance. Designed to fit seamlessly within the rubber seal of your window frame, they effectively prevent heat from escaping and cold air from entering. The honeycomb structure, made up of two layers with a series of hexagonal pockets, traps air within the cells. This trapped air provides excellent insulation, keeping your home warm in winter and cool in summer.
